At 51:38 you mentioned that your tervigon cant spawn termagants because you didnt pay for them. Where can I find information about it? In the german rulebook it sounds as if they were free of charge.

Your first mistake was using power points. It's meant for narrative play and does not take into account your upgrades.

Also dont forget venomthrope cloud spore only affect infantry models keyword, not those biggies. The only model that also let your monsters benefit from the spore cloud thingy its the Malanthrope, but hes alot more expensive points wise.Also try to remember reserves you will lose em on turn 4 if you didn´t deployed them. (thats the counter for free roll no scatter to get em on).Termagants re-roll wound rolls of 1 if there 20 or more (their 1st shooting you had a couple wound rolls of 1 right there).Chaos Space Marine 1st plasma shoot with the re-roll wound go down to 1 from that 2 (cause of the nearby venomthrope) re-roll apply before modifiers.

I think Dave would have done better with more melee focus. He got tarpitted in, but if his CSM's were killing through giant like an exterminator company in the melee, it wouldn't have mattered. Maybe if he brought a powerfist or at least a power sword and tried to take out the big gaunt (the summoner one), I think he'd of had a better chance to not lose his momentum mid-game. Once the big guy's gone, Daemon Price cleans house in the big melee, and he could sent the CSM's over to the (what were they, raveners?) by his deployment, bog them down & the Daemon Prince could have taken on most of the other stuff pretty handily.

The new rules has some pretty serious structural issues. The Armour saving and BS modifiers mean that shooting heavy armies are disadvantaged from turn one, especially with the move+advance+charge combos (meaning that turn one charges are not going to be uncommon). Additionally, structurally these rules favour armies which can put more physical models on the field, especially with the removal of the templates, and the way in which large weapons assign wounds per model, rather than per unit. This is compounded in that lots of shooty armies depend on vehicles carrying the crowd control weapons are disadvantaged when they rely on mobility, therefore disadvantaging these weapons further. The wound system for vehicles, and the lack of armour values for sides also means that there is no way a vehicle can fight from a hull down or static position and greatly benefit from remaining static, the BS trade off is simply not worth it without the ability to utilize templates.Perhaps the pessimist in me, but it doesn't seem like the intent of the new rules set was to produce a more balanced game, or even to produce to a faster, more fluid game. That all could have been done by going back to 5th or 6th edition, with a couple of changes to the rules, without taking the nuance. Instead this seems like a business decision on behalf of Games Workshop to reduce costs in their production by transferring production to cheaper, more modern molds for a new model range, by boosting the sales of flagging revenue (as alot of people are going to be drawn by the new ranges of models, and having to buy books just to play with models they already own) and by seriously decreasing the entry bar required to get into the hobby and start investing in an army. These are not necessarily criticisms, but rather an honest assessment of where I see our hobby going. More people playing is universally a good thing, but forcing me to buy another book to play with models that I've already bought with a codex I've already bought is kind of taking the piss. And Games Workshop, this wasn't a 'customer centric' decision, this was a business decision, plain and simple.

I would really appreciate seeing an even army fielded by Matt and Dave and see who would win. Just by looking at the model count alone Dave was already at a disadvantage, along with other things like upgrades, fielding cultists etc.

I think if Dave switched the bolt guns for chain swords it would have been much different. That would have been around 40 extra attacks in that big brawl which probably would have given him the momentum to smash the tarpit. Kind of a jack of all trades unit those marines, having an icon for charging with shooty weapon

interesting to watch, havnt played 40k since gen 4 or 5. still got my nids, I can't bare to part with them after all the time I spent making and painting them tho I havnt painted my heirophant (I think that's what it's called, the forge world massive duel venom cannon model). kinda got me interested in 40k again, I see new stuff and get interested but never do anything about it so maybe I should, but I have so many tyranids warriors and carnifexs and general R&D on a few models (again like the 3rd gen forge world hive tyrants, the normal and winged versions). I may have to look into the new codexs and get some new paints!

Since a daemon prince benefits from his own AOE buff, does that mean Commander Farsight does as well? That would mean he hits on 2+ and re-rolls ones in close combat, and he can use either montka or kauyon twice per battle, so it'd be a big deal. Honestly, this seems like an unintended loophole in the rules. I'll be surprised if it isn't retconned in an FAQ soon.

So the reinforcement of a existing Termagaunt Unit does not cost points for the spawned Gaunts, but if you spawn them as a new unit uyou will need to buy the points?
